Cold Feet
While cold feet may not represent a serious health problem, they can be uncomfortable to the sufferer. Since cold feet can lead to dry skin, loss of sensation in the foot and even loss of sleep, it’s important to pay attention to your foot temperature.
Common causes of cold feet include:
- Poor circulation
- Disorders like Raynaud’s phenomenon
- Stress and tension
- External factors
In order to treat cold feet, it’s crucial to seek out the root cause of the problem. For some, the solution may be to simply wear warmer socks or warmer clothes in general. Wearing socks to bed and keeping the feet dry whenever possible can also be helpful.
If poor circulation is the culprit, however, a doctor will recommend ways to treat the underlying condition, including lifestyle changes like quitting smoking, avoiding caffeine and exercising, all of which will help improve circulation.
