Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is a foot condition that involves inflammation of the tissue that extends from the heel to the toes, the plantar fascia. It can cause a good deal of pain and discomfort in the heel area.

The condition develops over time, and is frequently caused when patients have a faulty structure of the foot, such as arch problems. Non-supportive footwear, overuse and obesity can also contribute to plantar fasciitis.

The primary symptom of plantar fasciitis is pain in the heel. The pain tends to worsen over time, and is frequently worse in the morning or after a long period without mobility.

Dr. Jackson will carefully examine your foot to make a plantar fasciitis diagnosis, and then determine what the best course of treatment will be. There are many different treatment options for plantar fasciitis, including:

  • Stretching exercises
  • Modified shoes
  • Custom orthotics
  • Night splints
  • Medications
  • Injection therapy

Surgery is typically not necessary in cases of plantar fasciitis, but sometimes can be the only way to treat the condition. Dr. Jackson will assess your case and determine if surgery will be beneficial for you.
