Spasms

Spasms occur when muscles contract, and they can happen in any muscle of the body, though they are more common in appendages like the hands and feet. These spasms can range from mild and almost unnoticeable to violent and severe.

Common causes of muscle spasms in the hands and feet include:

  • Hyperventilation
  • Lack of vitamin D
  • Muscle cramps
  • Parkinson’s disease and other similar conditions

Because these types of muscle spasms could be indicative of a more serious condition, it’s important to allow your doctor to perform an examination. He or she can determine if further treatment is necessary.
